Judy took this in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Lake Superior with Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is in the background.

On to plan 'B'
As predicted in the last post, our renovation didn't allow us to make the Florida trip we planned. The Cajun/Texas trip was also victimized by the renovation. We hope to get there next winter.
We did make it to Florida; but not until March, and without the trailer. Nonetheless it was a nice break. We visited family on the mainland and our friends in Key West. Because of the short time available, we decided to postpone visiting Airstream friends and campgrounds until next winter.
We're excited about leaving Monday for the Airstream Region 3 rally in St. Augustine, FL. We'll be at the rally through next weekend, and then hope to make stops to tour Jacksonville and Savannah on the way home.
We intend to share the trip in this blog, but are fairly certain the rally campground doesn't have internet service. For that matter, the satellite view on Google Maps makes me think we'll be lucky to get water and electricity. If we find a WiFi hotspot we'll keep you up-to-date.
Christmas day message
I've just listened to a podcast of Queen Elizabeth II's Christmas Day message, and felt the urge to deliver my own.
This past October we spent a month on a blogless tour of Nashville, Memphis and Chattanooga. We saw all of the timeless tourist attractions - Graceland, Rock City, Ruby Falls, The Grand Ole Opry, the Opryland Hotel, the Parthenon, the Incline Railroad, the Lorraine Motel where Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated, and, most important, the International Towing & Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum. In addition, all of these cities had wonderful parks for playing with Casey. If you would have been interested, I apologize for the blogging vacation.
We're back in Tryon, where it's been a great Christmas. Friends sent us the Airstream lights adorning our mantle -
And Judy found this wonderful little scene -
I'm looking forward to getting back onto the road, but our near-term schedule is vague because of minor remodeling of the home base. If all goes well we hope to leave on our next odyssey sometime in February. (But, realistically, when as a remodeling project ever "gone well?") The plan is to tour Florida, visiting family and Airstream campgrounds where many of our new Airstream friends winter, and then put the trailer into storage while we visit friends in Key West.
The foregoing should take us into late March, at which time we hope to head west on Interstate 10 toward a month or two in Cajun Country and the Hill Country of Texas.
That seems a long way off, but the goal is worth the wait.
Merry Christmas, and best wishes for a great 2007.
The Western North Carolina Unit of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International rally in Swannanoa was nice. Chapter One blog readers may recall that our first-ever rally was with the same group in Denver, NC last May. This time around many of the same folks attended, along with some new (to us) folks. We enjoyed becoming better acquainted with those we had previously met, and made new friends.
We're at home catching up on domestic duties and planning our next trip. It will be a weekend WBCCI (Airstream Owner's Association) rally in Swannanoa, NC. Not a big thing, but it's fun to spend time with other Streamer's.
We'll let you know if it's Blogworthy.
