Creekwood Rally

This weekend we're at Creekwood Farm RV Park for a rally with our local Airstream owner's group. Technically, the group is Unit 169 of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International. Creekwood is a nice campground close to Waynesville, NC, and only about 90 minutes from where we store the trailer. You locate it by clicking the US map in the right-hand column.

Our Unit includes about 30 aluminum trailers and Airstream-manufactured motor homes. Six to eight usually attend a rally of this type, but there are only five here. When we arrived in the middle of the afternoon our friends were already settled in and enjoying elegant conversation with refreshments.

We've been very lucky with the weather. The forecasts were for intermittent rain all weekend, but it's been absolutely beautiful. A bit warm, but plenty of sunshine, and no rain.

Last evening we greeted other members who drove in for the evening. Our rally hosts, Sally and George James, supplied a pot roast, and we all pitched in for a potluck supper. Everyone enjoyed it.

This morning Judy and I drove the short distance to Waynesville to visit an art gallery she had read about. The gallery had really nice things, but we came away empty handed. Obviously the shopping failure required comfort food so we had pizza and beer for lunch. (And you thought nothing would make me shop -- SD.)

Tonight the group is traveling to Granny's Chicken Palace for a family-style meal of fried chicken. With a name like that it's gotta be good. I can't wait.

In the morning we'll all pack up in a leisurely fashion and head home. It was a good rally -- I'm glad we came.
